This item uses a 9x9mm square amethyst gemstone, which is 23% larger than our other 001 and 002-series gemstones. We used larger stones for the amethyst items because the 9x9mm stone is significantly deeper/thicker than the 8x8mm. That additional depth gives amethyst a much deeper purple color. Please see the photo showing the size difference between the 9x9mm amethyst stone and the 8x8mm blue topaz stone (P001BT) as an example.
